Barry has been playing music and singing since 1975, including stints in
the seminal mid- to- late 70's punk rock scenes of
CBGB in NYC and The Rat
in Boston. He was Producer and Musical Director for Rock N' Roll Hall Of
Famer
LaVern Baker from 1989 until her death in 1997. He has produced over
thirty albums including releases by
LaVern Baker,
Peter
Wolf,
Aimee
Mann, The Irresponsibles,
Rev. Lee Mitchell,
Patricia Vlieg,
Philip Hamilton,
Concept 6
and . He's been a songwriter and or producer for several feature films,
including "Dick Tracy", "Shag: the Movie", and "A Rage in Harlem". He is
an Associate Professor at
The New England
Institute of Art and teaches at the
Berklee College of Music
and
Emerson College.
